FIRST MATCH REPORT
There was certainly cricket being played in Neyland before 1889 because the "Western Telegraph" of the 24th August 1887 carried
a report of a match between the men of the town and their counterparts from Milford Haven. The game took place on the 13th August
and Neyland beat their visitors by 4 wickets in a two innings game. It is worth recording the scores in that particular match
since it is the first occasion that any record has been found of scores featuring a cricket team from Neyland.

The match was played with ten men a-side because Milford Haven were unable to field a full team and so Neyland
sportingly agreed to play with ten men as well. It is also interesting to note that no fewer than eleven different
batsmen failed to score in one or both innings!
